May 1st is World Labyrinth Day, an annual event sponsored by The Labyrinth Society as a worldwide action to “walk as one at 1” local time to create a rolling wave of peaceful energy across the globe. Check out the day’s events!
This ancient contemplative movement practice can be done using your whole body, or with just a finger. A labyrinth is different from a maze in that a maze is a puzzle that must be solved, but a labyrinth has a single path that directs the walker to the center. At the center, you will always find something waiting for you– a prayer, an image, a word, or a feeling.
“The labyrinth literally reintroduces the experience of walking a clearly defined path. This reminds us that there is a path, a process that brings us to unity, to the center of our beings. In the simple act of walking, the soul finds solace and peace.”
