“I’m good at everything, except the things I can’t do,” says game participant Mi-Nyeo, as she scrambles to join a team in the Netflix blockbuster Squid Game. Over the past few months, many of us have tried new things or adapted old ways of doing things. We discovered things we couldn’t do but found that we were good at many new things.
The South Korean a cappella pop group Maytree was forced to cancel all their scheduled performances when the pandemic began. Instead of giving up, the group decided to try something new and created videos featuring covers and sound effects to connect with audiences on social media. The group’s singing talent and ability to mimic technical sounds are astonishing, and several of their videos have gone viral. Their Squid Game video medley of songs takes you on a short rollercoaster ride of emotions and ends with the tranquil, now spooky, The Blue Danube Waltz.
